An experienced health and education professional

I am fortunate to be able to blend academic and clinical practice into my professional life. Currently, I work as the Program Director for Physical Health at Torrens University, a PhD researcher, and a practitioner at Complete Physio Exercise & Performance in Melbourne.

Clinically, my background has focused on sporting populations, with a more recent interest in persistent pain. Prior to my current role, I have worked primarily in Rugby Union and clinical practice in the UK and Australia, focusing on acute injury management, rehabilitation, and injury prevention strategies. This has given me a well-rounded appreciation of sporting injuries and effective recovery options.

I believe in being guided by the evidence and have a focus on active management (rehabilitation exercise) to ensure long-term outcomes that align with the values and goals of the people I work with. I enjoy treating all sporting types, but I particularly enjoy working with jiu-jitsu and other contact sports athletes.

I love working in education. The last twelve years working in the sector have allowed me to develop a solid andragogical understanding of healthcare education, built on earlier experiences in the UK university sector, Australian TAFE, private higher education and University environments. I currently have the privilege of sitting on the Torrens University Academic Board, and I enjoy working to provide better quality learning experiences for students to build confident, employable graduates.

My PhD studies focus on how we manage physical workload and their effects on people's pain. Pain is complex and often difficult to manage. I want to take my own studies to the highest academic level to improve my work as a clinician and to contribute back to the community.

I strongly believe that a healthy body supports a healthy mind and general wellbeing. I enjoy a sense of balance from life's stressors through regular training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and spending time in nature with my family.
